Confused

So last night, from 10:30 - 11:00 PM EST, I was away from my computer watching tv. My character was sitting on crows nest of the ship taking in money. When I returned, I was no longer at the boat, I was in a new spawnpoint. This is strange because normally when you are killed on the ship, you return to the ramp. Also, all my spawn weapons were gone. My money was still there though. And to top it off I had a cigar in my character's hand? I then couldn't get in vehicles.

I then restarted my game, and rebought my spawnweapons. I started a gang and for some reason there was a gang skin assigned that I didn't assign.

Wierd stuff.

You shouldn't idle so long ingame.
If you need to be afk for a short time, use /pause.
Otherwise just /q, because other people want to play as well.

The only reason I was idle was to make money from my properties. Also, there were about 40 open slots for people to join.

As Spaik said, using /pauze will let administrators know that you aren't moneycheating incase there's a message.

Also, if you're /pauzed, you're frozen, meaning you cannot be killed or respawned.

I agree with tomozj and Spaik.  Don't be logged in unless you're playing.  Use /pause (or /pauze) if you need to go to the bathroom, eat, whatever.  Getting hours and money by idling on the ship is kinda lame. 

As for why you respawned, it could be that someone got up there and kicked you off the crow's nest, or a plane crashed and knocked you off.  In that case, I don't think it would register as a shipkill.

lol that happend one time with me, i wasn't idling or something, i was only gone for like 5 minutes, came back, and i was spawned in grove street with a bottle of liquor in my hand, same with me, i couldn't enter vehicles..  :

Well maybe someone punched/kicked you out of the ship?(i.e. into the water)
Or someone threw a grenade and you flew away and finally you were killed outside of the safezone.

The cigar/bottle thing is an SA-MP bug, which rarely happens.
