Property earnings
#11
It wasn't just crew properties though, it was lot's of different ones. If a crew member wants their property earnings increased they can just ask a management member, who I'm sure will be a little more sensible and won't set them to 500k or whatever. Perhaps we should add a limit on the command as 250k, and add an "automatic" parameter to /property earnings which lets the server decide what earnings a property should have.

I can't find the exact amounts I suggested back in the old days..
This is what I posted in 2007

Quote:This topic is for Crew only, we don't want to see this information about earnings outside this forum.

Our property prices are currently low. Too low.
So we have changed them to a more reasonable price with better earnings.
The new prices will be live after a server restart/crash.

The table below shows in how much time a property is making profit.
All the prices are calculated with the lowest price in that range, so the prices are based on 10k*, 100k, 250k, 500k and 1000k.
But it doesn't matter what starting price you take, the time will stay the same.
As you can see, the maximum time before making profit is 50 minutes.

Code:
Price        %    Earnings p/m    Minutes
0-99k        10%    1000        10    * Calculated: 10k
100-244k    8%    8000        12.5
250-499k    6%    15000        16.6
500-999k    4%    20000        25
1000k+ (1 Mil)    2%    20000        50

What does this mean for you?
When you create a property, set the earnings in the range as mentioned above.
If you set higher earnings per minute, it will be deleted if we see this.
I don't recommend lower earnings, but it is allowed, as this doesn't screw the money ingame to much.

When do you create a property?
If someone asks you to create a property, you are in the position to set the price and earnings, NOT the player.
I've seen it a lot the last few days, players (Traceur...) demanding for the crappiest property a price of 3 mil, or with earnings of something even more ... idiotic.
In that case, if you already created the prop with your price, delete the property immediately, and go further with your admin tasks.

Also, don't create multiple properties for 1 person. We have 127 properties already, and maybe 60 of them are bought frequently.
This means that we have 67 properties which aren't bought at all, or only once in a time. So we aren't in a shortage of properties.

It's always YOUR choice what a property earns, so use your common sense. For example, a tree won't get a price of 1 million.

The Management

Quite a lot useless info :+
And maybe the percentages are a little bit low nowdays, but it is a start :P

I'd suggest to make the earnings field for Management only.
So a crewmember can create a property, but it can never exceed the % we want, thus the earnings can't go up.
