Though i doubt its the problem, but as everyone guessed, you are not running a genuine copy of Windoes 7. A genuine copy would have required a key for activation.

I think Alpha had that problem too, but it wasn't only on 7, I think. His ping would randomly go high and give him lag spikes, eventhough his connection is great. Only was on SA:MP too.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit, got no problems. I don't run GTA in compatibility mode either not sure why your game crashes without it. Its probably not a Windows 7 issue

I'm running GTA SA without compatibility mode now too; seemed to have lowered the ping, but not much.

I heard Microsoft contact your ISP and tell them to reduce your download speed if you're caught downloading Windows. Can anyone confirm that? :+

I also disabled IPv6 (in Local Area Connection) after reading this, but that only seemed to make it worse. :?

Thanks for all the replies, by the way. :>

Phyc0 if you want a lower ping get moreĀ  upload speed + fastpath.

Fastpath makes your ping the half it is now, and more upload speed will lower it again.

Utter bullshit. They have no rights to do so. If they would catch you downloading illegally MS products, they would take you to the court.

ISP's are known to love throttling torrent download speeds. They can't block it, but they sure can slow your ass down.
