The Legion Movie - Somebody's Review
#1
..is all I feel after having watched this movie. WOW..that lacked a lot of really good depth. I'm as big a fan of action, gun fights, and gore as anyone here, but GOSHDARNIT, can you tell us SOMETHING throughout the movie? The frail explanation Michael gave in the diner was vague..especially to say that had he chosen better words during random dialogue moments, he could've snuck the explanation out. I had to go look up the synopsis just to see if SOMEBODY could shed some light on this mess. This is what I found, "After God loses faith in humanity, the archangel Michael (Paul Bettany), who has become a fallen angel, is the only one standing between mankind and Armageddon. This time using angels to execute the Last Judgment, God's wrath descends on Earth to exterminate the world's population. In a desperate, last-chance gambit, Michael leads a group of strangers to a small New Mexico diner to protect a young waitress who may be pregnant with Christ in his second coming."

[SPOILER]
So, give me a second to be curious about something. How is Jesus to be "born again" in the form of this baby when Jesus is not dead. He was crucified and then He rose on the third day and has been alive ever since according to Christianity. If God is the Father, and Jesus is the Son (the alive Son, mind you), then how is this new baby supposed to be "Jesus?" Is God tired of the Old Jesus? Did He retire? And if God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and all powerful..how is that this New Age Mary & Joseph are able to throw a wrench in HIS all-knowing plan? If He wants this God forsaken species to be done with, He should just have it be so! And..it seems like a terribly non-green thing to do to detroy the Earth and its inhabitants in such a wasteful, hateful way. In the same way He said, "Let there be light," He should have said, "Let there be no more light," and simply snuff out the sun, the oxygen, EVERYTHING in an instant. I mean, if you're going to do a movie rooted on a religious theory, do a little more research.

Plus, Armageddon is the catalyst for "The Rapture" so were the people who were Zombiefied by "Angel Spirits" (I guess) the ones who were "left behind" (non-believers..hence why they were people of weak will or whatnot)? So, if all of the rest of mankind is gone..aside from New Mary, New Joseph, and New Jesus..starting over from scratch is purposeles without two new perfect beings. These two are jaded and if they are to be the beginning of the New Civilization, they'll simply keep teaching the New Humans all the wrong things that the Old Humans thought/did/ate/drank, etc.
I know that's going entirely too deep in my questioning of this movie..but they did so HORRIBLE at the task of filling in any blanks that I was left with nothing but question after question that challenged this horribly thought-out movie. Do NOT have people having random conversation if no one is saying anything worth listening to.
[SPOILER]
And why did they let the one man who might've accidentally known the word or had a Bible be killed (Charles S. Dutton)?
[SPOILER]
And why would New Mary and New Joseph need a car full of guns at the end if they were all that was left?
Just so much of this movie pissed me off.

If they make a DVD Sequel to this movie, I will not be seeing it. I'm sad and disappointed because I had such high hopes for this movie. I won't buy the DVD, but I will watch it again when it comes on cable to see if it makes any more sense.
