Donations, Advertising, Better Hosting and shitzzz

Well. As some might have noticed, iv'e been on vacation to Tenerife, so i've been thinking alot.
Yes. I know that's rare, but the thing is. I came up with LOTS of ideas!
But i can't remember the most of them.

Well. I thought that we could make our own "donate" button, so ppl could donate to us, so we get money to spent on etc, website adds, better hosting capabilities and such.

But why would people want to bother donating for the radio? We could make some "VIP-listeners" so when they requests a song, it would jump first in line, we could make them as special guests on the talkshows, make shoutcast for them etc.

Another idea for getting money to spent on website adds, hosting shitz so on: Maybe it would be possible to get a certain percentage of people donation for the lvp server? Etc, if we get 10% of all donations, then if a guy donates 100$ we would get 10.

Feel free to make a comment, and maybe make your own version of it.

First off all, I don't get the VIP-listeners thing because most request are played immediatly.
Second, if you want money ... Make an account on Google for the Google Ads on the website.

Well. I just thought it would be cool if we could advertise our radio better. maybe on facebook or something. Costs like 2 dollars a day, but we would get more listeners, then i thought where do we get the money from?.. Feel free to come with suggestion.

I see a HUGE problem with advertising outside LVP, as we stand right now. My reasons are as follows:

• most of our DJ's are using software to which they do not OWN a license to
  
• most of our DJ's are playing music that was downloaded, without being bought
  
• Our station does not have a royalties license to broadcast the music we play

the above points that Cyrix mentioned, made my own radio shutdown for good.

the DJ software (sambc) costs 230 US dollars, would be like 180 euros.
The music should be like 1.30 euros each song. so if you have 3000 songs, multiply 3000 * 1.30 = aprox. 3900 euros..
so thats a one time investment of aprox. 4100 euros.

then the licenses.
You need a DJ license which costs 30 euros a month.

And then we need to apply our radio to the government royalties..
this is the calculation i got from them:

0,0001 euros each listener, each minute.
so if you'd say you got aprox. 10 listeners a day, your calculation would be:
0,0001 * 10 * 60 * 24 * 30 * 12 = 518.4 euros a year.
don't forget the DJ license: 30 * 12 = 360 euros a year

but the next problem is; when advertising outside LVP, we will get more than 10 listeners. so we also have to pay -more-.
this is just for a non-profit radio.. immagine the costs for a profitable radio.

anyone wanna pay aprox. 520 euros a year for the radio, and 360 euros a year for the dj license?..

so my opinnion; bad idea to advertise outside LVP. just due to the bills you'd get, and if we wouldn't pay, the high prosecutions of royalties companies etc. etc.

Yes it did. Also, if the authorities saw us do this, they might take a blind eye to it because it is just a small community of people that want to play a few songs to eachother. If we are advertising they will rip the balls of us.
