/votekick id

Hi,
Have been reading various posts regarding admin cover/abusers e.t.c and note there is a /votekick command that is disabled. I notice also alot of rocket minigun abusers are not registered and wondered if there was a way to enable /votekick for non registered players?
Just an idea.
cheers

When I think of votekick, I think of abuse.

Say there's a bunch of guys that just dislike you for who you are(note, no cheats or so involved) and they decide to votekick you. You'd be constantly kicked for no good reason, which would be bad.

Or did you mean the unregistered players like, only make it work if the person to be votekicked is not registered? :+

Hi Richard,
Yes I ment for unregistered players who come in with hacks on knowing there are no admins to kick them, I realise this is probably disabled for your reasons i.e abuse, but if they are unregistered they are not one of us, so being able to /votekick in those circumstances would be good.

Hmm, ok. In that case, agreed.

When there's no mod/admin around(temp or perm, doesn't matter), votekick should be enabled. But it should only work on unregistered players indeed.

Wait for Jay though.

Edit: I just heard it got disabled because it crashes the server or so.

Quote:/votekick is disabled because Badeend himself disabled it. It is a server crasher.

Votekick didn't crash the server as far as I know, it was just unused. It required about 80 votes before someone was kicked, so it was useless. Plus as estroe says, abuse could be an issue. The command was completey removed from 2.90, but if management agree and want it back, it could be rewritten and improved.

And just to add: the anticheat in 2.90 has been improved quite a lot. It will automatically deal with most types of hacks, which I'm obviously not going to publicly go into detail about.

Votekicks doesn't work in general.
People are sheep-like in general. They follow each other.
For example in CoD4/CoD5: Random people start a vote, and every dumb sheep just votes something, mostly yes for kicking a player, without even knowing the reason why they are voting.

So, unless well thought, and implemented in a very good way, it will fail.

I disabled it a long time ago, it did crash the server. It was a sucky system anyway, so I didn't take the time to actually fix it :P

Quote:Only allow regulars to vote, so that the people that vote actually know something about who they're voting for to get kicked :)
And if there's crew ingame when a vote has ended, send a message to the crew along the lines of "[name] has recieved enough votes to get kicked off the server, do you agree with this?" (/allow,/disallow).
