Suggestion for admins / mods... We all need advice at times :)

Ok...

I have a suggestion...Admins + mods should atleast have some fighting skill or learn some before becomming a mods / admin..

The reason is, if they aren't skilled fighters ingame themselves, how are they to know the difference between 2-shot and delayed 4-shot?

And bug abuse...I've seen posts where people have been banned for "bug abuse" And all they have done is shot at a wall, on their own.

There are the odd times people will use bugs and shoot players, that is bug abuse. But a player just using the bug on thier own and not harming anyone else is simply using a bug. Nothing more.

If i was to be given v-allow, and i was shooting hydra missiles into a building or into the sea with nobody else around, i wouldnt be abusing vehicle rights... Because theres nobody else involved but me, so there no abuse of the right. I wouldnt be using it to gain any advantage over any of the other players.

So if i was to go into the FC on my own with nobody else around and start c-bugging with a deagle or using a no-reload bug against a wall with sawns, i wouldnt be abusing the bug just using it...

Abuse: to make wrong use of; to ill treat; to violate... This would only be the case if the person using 2-shot / c-bug or any other bug is to use it on players...

Also, the respect towards admins must be earned, i laugh at those admins / mods who demand the respect just because they have extra rights or a different colour in game. Yeah they do a lot, or some do. I've been temp mod alone incharge of 100+ people, it wasnt easy, and i did need help from estroe with the commands and stuff. But by accepting the mod / admin rights you put yourself in that position to get flamed, and have to deal with shitty people... If you can't earn the respect, maybe you should look at the way you admin / moderate the server. Talk to people how you would like them to talk to you.

Have fun reading... >:)

Oh, our eternal moaner is back. You almost got me to worry, a week without any moaning from you.

Administrators on Las Venturas Playground are chosen based on their overall performance, not only because they are fighters, RPGers or whatever category they would fit in. The way someone handles players is far more important, reaction-speeds, knowledge of Grand Theft Auto as well as knowledge about SA-MP and cheats. We can't just promote any fighter because you think it's nessesary, which I disagree with in the first place.

We've got quite some fighters in the crew. Just to name a few, FateTrip, Jay and estroe, three people who are well capable of seeing the difference. What makes them special over normal "fighters"? Quite simple, they know when someone is using weapon-bugs, rather than just guessing and banning on the first sight. Administrators talk a lot, often discuss techniques to detect this, but also know when desyncs occur. You would be suprised about how many "bugs" are actually desyncs, a really large percentage to say the least.

Let me tell you, there is a very odd law in the Netherlands. As you might expect, killing someone with a knife is not allowed. Regardless how you stab him, slit his throat or use the knife in other ways to kill a person, you are not allowed to do so. The odd part is quite simple: you are allowed to teach other people how to kill with the knife. How to most efficiëntly stab someone, as long as you don't stab the person. Following our general opinion on that, we decided to slightly adjust our own rules in order to compensate for that. That would mean that, as you say, using weapon-bugs on persons is available, however, teaching other people would be fine (after all, if you shot into a wall, other people might watch and immitate it). In our eyes that is unacceptable, and therefore we don't differentiate between using it on purpose and using it on objects. Bugs like that simply are not allowed.

To conclude; fighting skills are just a minor part of the abilities an Administrator has to master. It is not a required part of the becoming-crew procedure, I'd say it's way more important people are nice players, fit in the group and understand the ethics behind administrating players, ranging from pure knowledge to feeling responsible.

A little uncalled for but its to be expected given your history of insults to players..

Remember if it wasnt for the player LVP wouldn't be around, you guys can do all the scripting and rules you want, but if it wasnt for the players it would be a waste of time and effort, so treat the players with more respect, even those who like to express their opinion more than others, and you'll earn the respect of the players...

Anyway... An admin without knowledge of fighting skills is often going to make wrong judgements. Im not saying every admin should be awesome at fighting, that doesn't matter. But atleast have some knowledge of it. Like knowing the difference between a player using a bug and a bug that the player isn't aware he/ she is using. Like the health one, where people can shoot you but you take no damage, but if you drop from the sky you die. And then still cant take any weapons damage after you respawn.

I've had that happen to me, luckily HaZe was temp mod at the time and knew it was a bug so he just told me to reconnect and it would fix it. Maybe another admin / mod would have banned me and the appeal been rejected.

And silly laws, we have one in england, you can't murder or carry weapons like guns, knives and crossbows in public. But you can kill a scotish man in Yorkshire with a crossbow, only on a Sunday... So Benbmyers stay away from York on Sundays ;)

But anyway... If an admin / mod doesn't know the difference between 2-shot and delayed 4shot, regular players will get banned wrongly, and there will be more and more complaints...

I myself have used 2shot infront of some mods to see if they would ban for it, i didnt shoot players just the floor infront of me and obects, but notihng happened, and it wasn't like there was anyone around to obstrust the view of me 2-shotting, there wasnt many people there at all so i was easy to spot.

Its also hard for players to learn bugs just by watching them being done, to a player, the bugs jsut look like no-reload cheats. So they wouldnt bother trying to do it anyway. Even if they dont think its a cheat, they would need to know the buttons to press and the amount of times + the timing in pressing them to get the bug to work. So to watch and learn a bug isn't possible without being told how to...

As for cheaters, i've had to report some cheaters 5 or more times before either giving up or using CAPs in the admin chat to get their attention. And a few times its taken over an hour to ban a cheater who had been using the cheats the whole time... Its not hard to figure out if someone is cheater, I used to admin on a server that allowed some cheats...Sounds pointless having admins, but we just used to stop the flamers and make sure they stayed in a certain area if they wanted to play with their new found cheat programs, and let the non-cheating players have their own fun without being disturbed...

Anyway i aint saying mods / admins dont do a good job, but i feel it should be a requirement that an admin / mod knows how to spot these bugs and take the right action...

I get on with most of the crew, and i often help catch cheaters if i see any in game. I tp to them and provoke them to use their cheats. So it makes it a bit easyer to catch them so they're banned sooner...

Just to finish, i've noticed the gang worlds seem to allow random players to join then, when before these worlds once a gang had bought them, become locked to those who aren't invited... Would it be possible to alow a player to join a world, then lock it and invite players, and then in this world they can use 2shot to fight eachother? This must be agreed between the players first. If anyone is found to be teaching bugs then yeah ban them. But if they just want to fight using 2shot why stop them if its in another world thats locked? Nobody will be able to get in without an invite from the first joiner, so theres no way of anyone learning how to use the bugs...
