I think we should consider perhaps having some public tests run in the future, perhaps using the regular server temporarily (but running the regular gamemode).
This would attract large numbers (and perhaps fill that oh-so-quiet server?), allowing us to test more than we ever will with the current beta team (with all respect, we don't have enough people). We could also at the same time let them try out the new features and put forward suggestions (after all, we are creating it for them). The best method of testing is to simply get people to play the game normally for a while, so say if we had a test which ran for 1 hour with many developers and Management ingame administrating the server, it'd be pretty relaxed (I hope). And a simple rule- any flaming, instant mute => instant ban. One warning, and then no coming back. This would allow us to get on with testing and not have to worry about gangs screwing it up.
Tell me what you think.. I'd love for this to happen. We'd have to finish of some of the main features and fix some bugs, however this could be done a few weeks at least prior to the live update.
