The tanks are indeed pretty crappy, some of the other RC vehicles have some potential though. I can't think of any concrete ideas, but just to say something, the planes and helis can quite easily be modified to be able to drop bombs.
As for the RC cars, maybe racing with them could be fun with a classic top-down view, if that's possible? :P
