Ofcourse MS is perfectly capable of making a free OS. The problem is, if it does, all the linux and such OS ppl will start whinning and bitching about monopoly. It was the same thing with the WMP and IE. they cried like little girls and took MS to court. And you think they will maybe look the other way if MS makes a free OS? And what proof do you have that a MAJORITY of science depts/agencies, academic depts/agencies, government depts/agencies and blah blah use linux over MS? We hear about this because some dept or agency is broke and the governmetn is broke too so they cant give them the money to get the required software. All they have left is linux.
A recent overview in uk schools about this issue was highlighted. They wanted to upgrade their computers with new software but they simply didnt have the money. Just because someone gets linux because of being broke does not mean Linux is better than MS.
And yea MS users love their games. Atleast we dont have to scumb around looking for WINE or smething to play a simply game. MS is an all rounder. You can use it for work, games, personal shit, and a whole lot others. So Mac will be getting COD4 and Spore. Big fuckin deal. I have seen spore and honetly i wont mind if Mac choose to keep it all for themselves.
And Linux dont have any leverage over work output either. The couple of seconds you save from decompressing a file in linux or whatever you linux ppl think is cool these days dont mean much to MS users.
Oh and the experts agree ( and the ol cliche' a picture is worth a 1000 words )
