Yes, many schools and organizations who cannot afford to spend a lot of cash on licenses are attracted to Linux, adding another point to it's hat. It brings a powerful operating system to areas where it was thought to be difficult or impossible.

an interesting quote being "Rubinow said that Linux is mature enough to meet his needs. The open-source operating system may not have all the polish of Unix technologies with 20-plus years of history behind them, "but it's polished enough for us," he said." hmm . . . no mention of any Redmond companies, huh? Only other *Unix* technologies.

AH! I almost forgot to address your gaming quip, yea, these are just two mainstream games that are recently being made available. The UTs have been Linux for a long ass time tho. and maybe the other gamers can address the games that are available, because i'm not really much of a gamer, just here and there.
Bah, this is all i have the energy to put up for now. A funny little anecdote that came to my mind earlier was that a past teacher of mine said that if we really want to keep our jobs, when your boss asks you what operating system to use always say Windows, because there's a guarantee that there will be problems. I nearly died laughing (and this was before i was so into Unix, or even used Unix at all). Lawl at your "decompressing a file" quip and at the pic, can ya find the vid? i would love to watch it
p.s. you remind me of the dude the guy who wrote this article was talking to: http://blog.lobby4linux.com/index.php?%2...Shade.html
Edit: oh, and i ask for the video cuz goofy things can happen to images, which is why pics found on Google should seldom be used as "proof" har har.
