Not really, you are the first one here to use a rotating hdd, all of my ipods with HDD's crashed...it's just out of experience (read 'frustration') that i replaced it with a flash card, it's been running great ever since. Besides that it's a fun little project to play with. Off course it cuts your capacity .

Fair enough, then. I apologize. But I've never had a problem with mine. It's been working perfectly for over 14 months. Guess some of us have luck, others don't. (And I'd cut someone if they cut my capacity... )
