Another thing you could do is (For Windows XP) open Sound Recorder, click Edit > Audio Properties. In the Sound Recording box, choose volume and turn Stereo Mix up.
I think in Vista and 7, it's as simple as clicking on the speaker icon at the bottom right and you can get to your audio properties from there, although I'm not sure.

Now you can use any program like Audacity, Freecorder, Sony vegas (etc.) to record the sounds from your computer.


Not all sound cards have Stereo Mix though, for some reason.
