Heh, I bought actually Q8300. But with a new graphics card, GTA IV will probably run on medium settings and full resolution without lag.

What can people say about this processor? It will run current games and upcoming ones on medium settings, won't it?

It should be able to handle current games like "Crysis" "GTAIV" "FarCry 2" "Dirt 2" of course assuming you have a good graphic card to go with. But as for upcoming games, they are going to be "Direct X11" so you'll need a DX11 Video card to play them (Anything DX10 compatible should work just not as great). Mainly because Direct X11 use's new graphic technology's that direct X10 cards may not be able to be capable with. Core2Quad is still a good cpu to this day, but technology's constantly moving. You'll need to switch some day. 

(GTAIV I'm guesstimating 35fps medium)
