You're not using it for "real" stuff then... ofcourse its overkill for just a few 600x200 signatures... but once you gotta edit a 4,3GB .tiff movie poster for a company, you're lucky that the entire pic fits into your ram and doesnt need to get loaded slowly from your hdd 
PS: even I am lucky that i have 8GB, altho i only need all of it like once or twice per month - people that do that shizzle like every day need every single MB of ram and every single MHz of cpu power that they can get.
