Well, it's definitely lighter. Not that it really matters though, because if you enjoy whatever you're listening to, who's there to stop you? Everyone has their own taste.
You might be getting the wrong idea about it because of the pop culture. Mainstream "metal" bands are more than often not considered metal by actual metal music fans.
Growling is mostly a part of extreme metal, which is basically an umbrella term for anything considered "death, black, doom". That's a whole lot deeper already though.
Just like all music genres however, metal can have both "deep lyrics" and "whatever lyrics". The last example of my previous post does contain death growls, as well as regular, melodic vocals.
The video you posted is an example of what is known as death metal. It seems to be a parody band though. However, it all comes down to taste again. Some people like death growls, some don't, and others don't care. This is a great topic to discuss music, and hey, we're doing it. No one is hating indeed. As far as the 'Christian rock' thing goes, let's just say there could be plenty of nitpicking there as well. One band could be playing a more alternative style of rock, whilst the other plays pop rock.
It doesn't matter as long as you're enjoying whatever you're listening to. Some people care a lot about what they listen to, whilst others just want a simple tune they can nod their heads to. If you're really bored with your current music collection however, then don't hold back to explore new styles. There's plenty to discover.
