It does no harm to include an optional reason parameter to the command though. It's just one extra easier thing for admins, when a player get's muted, along with the time they are muted for, it will just help them understand if a reason is stated as well and will make it easier for admins as they hopefully won't have to do all the !eng stuff. If an admin is muting several people at once, I presume it must be hard to remember each specific reason for each person, in some cases they might get confused, but they won't need to remember if the reason is stated  to the player & logged.
