My opinion: jump into fighting straight away.
Experiment with different movement styles, ask for plenty of duels, and attack many gangs.
Once you ask for a duel, check their ping, and learn where to aim for that ping.
If you have a decent, respectful attitude and are willing to learn well, I'm sure many experienced fighters will be glad to give you a few pointers, and even send you a few mill just for being "free kills"
