Earth hour!
#1
I just figured this out, on google. I came to it, and the first thing i noticed- the background was black. (ofcourse i couls still see everything clearly). I read the article, apparently several countries at 8:00PM throug 9:00PM  (their timezone time) to turn off all their lights.

the purpose? To save energy!

Google's article:

Google users in the United States will notice today that we "turned the lights out" on the Google.com homepage as a gesture to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called Earth Hour. As to why we don't do this permanently - it saves no energy; modern displays use the same amount of power regardless of what they display. However, you can do something to reduce the energy consumption of your home PC by joining the Climate Savers Computing Initiative.

On Saturday, March 29, 2008, Earth Hour invites people around the world to turn off their lights for one hour – from 8:00pm to 9:00pm in their local time zone. On this day, cities around the world, including Copenhagen, Chicago, Melbourne, Dubai, and Tel Aviv, will hold events to acknowledge their commitment to energy conservation.

Given our company's commitment to environmental awareness and energy efficiency, we strongly support the Earth Hour campaign, and have darkened our homepage today to help spread awareness of what we hope will be a highly successful global event.

Why did Google choose this specific organization?
We believe in doing our part to help combat climate change, and found the Earth Hour initiative to be a timely, important event. Further, we think the "lights out" idea's individual-centered nature is something that millions of people worldwide can participate in. In short, we really like it. So we did something about it.

How can I get Google to do something similar for my organization or project?
We welcome your ideas on how we can become more socially and environmentally responsible. Although we can't guarantee either a placement on the Google homepage or even a response to every query, we do read every email we receive and welcome your ideas of organizations that you believe we should feature. If you'd like to submit a proposal, please send it to us at proposals@google.com.

umm, how is this going to help climate change?

The man-made global warming argument is bs.  The sun is burning brighter than it has been in recent years so that is why "global warming" is happening.  Even the polar caps of mars have been receding over the past few years, so don't buy into the global warming fraud.  Yes, it would conserve energy, this earth hour thing, but it won't do a damn thing to combat climate change, unless the sun decides to join in, which I don't see happening.

It's just popular nowadays to buy into the whole man-made climate change fraud (which was brought about in order to enact a World-wide tax in the form of the Global Carbon Tax, which just line the pockets of the international bankers (Rothschilds, rockefellers, Warburgs, and Harramens, some more that I can't remember)

I'm for reducing smog and stuff like that, but they are using the world.  They were crying at the UN when they passed the Global Carbon Tax because they couldn't believe they ACTUALLY passed it.  In an Interview with David de Rothschild (one of the biggest supporters of the Live Earth concerts which brought HUGE amounts of carbon into the atmosphere), Alex Jones called him on the fraud and noted how Europa (the formerly frozen earth-like moon of Jupiter) and the Mars Ice caps were melting.  In response, in true

fashion, David, in true elitist lying fashion, said that it was because........I'm not Shting you......

ROFL

Seriously, this wont do a damn thing for climate change, will help with energy conservation, but not climate change

Why else would Al Gore, after getting the election stolen from him in 2000, make a stupid movie instead of fighting the election results (which were horribly in his favor)
