I don't mean external, I mean putting a second hard drive inside your computer (you can get anyone at any computer workshop to do this for you, or you can do it yourself if you know how).
The reason Fraps lags when recording games is beacuse it's trying to write to the same drive that both Fraps and San Andreas is being run from. If you record to a secondary hard drive, it's writing to a different place and doesn't cause much FPS drop.
When I play Call of Duty 4, I get 250fps. When I record it to my main C:\ drive I get 60fps. When I record to my secondary E:\ drive I get 180-200fps.
