As far as I know, Garena simulates LAN matches.
So, it's as though everyone joins a network and when you start a match, it starts a LAN match which you can play with anyone else on Garena.

Basically, although they'd never admit it, Garena is a program that enables you to play pirated games online without a serial.

I tried to use it on L4D 2 (Cracked), but that game crashed turning my pc off, when I tried to restart the pc, nothing happens just a grey colour on whole desktop, I fixed that reinstalling the windows.
