Waiting for Gothic IV?  It's called "Risen" and is gonna be released in october.

Gothic IV is a game created by another game studio then the first 3 Gothics. Piranha Byte fucked up with JoWood, but JoWood has the name copyrights. Thats why the new game of Piranha Byte (who made the first 3 Gothics) is not gonna named Gothic IV because they dont have the rights to. Their game (= Gothic IV) is called "Risen".

Gothic IV: Arcania is by JoWood and another game studio which had nothing to do with the first three Gothics,  so i wouldnt put my hopes in Gothic IV, rather in Risen.

Yeah III was pretty crap, the new devs had no idea what the story's all about. They did what GTA IV did (but earlier of course), make nice graphics but shitty gameplay. It's worse when it first came out though, you couldn't move the camera without it jumping like mad or crashing (and no, wasn't my computer because I upgraded my pc just for Gothic).

Oh just read this, Star Wars: The Old Republic certainly is not KotOR 3.
I'd been hoping for a KotOR 3 to come out, but when Old Republic was announced I was disappointed. The KotOR games are a couple of the best Star Wars games of all time (and by god have there been a few), but the only similarity between KotOR 1&2 and The Old Republic is the rough time setting.

^You forgot Dark Forces, Battlefront 1, Dark Forces II:Jedi Knight, Tie Fighter, Empire at War (although I didnt get into it), Rogue Squadron 1+2, Lego Star Wars 1+2 and a shitload of other great ones.
I'd really recommend KotOR 1, you'll love it whether you're a Star Wars fan or not. Game of the year 2003.

I think so- it's the second Star Wars MMORPG. Galaxies was good before the NGE (New Game Enhancements, kinda like LVP before 2.90 .... except not really, just a massive gameplay change)- unfortunately I only started after and was only interested for a couple of months. I don't really get into MMORPGs so I (and millions of others) would so much rather KotOR 3 than a new MMORPG, but we'll take what we can get. It's just that the KotOR games are so damn original, and there's a one in a thousand chance that the new MMORPG (The Old Republic) will be a decent MMORPG and rival anything like WoW.
It may be interesting to buy for a month, just to check out the scenery though, because that's one thing I'm sure will be great about the game.
