[Minigame]Hide & Seek - Mike - 02-19-2008

Hide & Seek

Recently, there has been an unofficial game being played, that is 100% set up by players. This is a formal request to make this a full minigame for LVP 3.0.


The Game:

I’m sure most of you have played Hide & Seek when you were little. If not, read up.

Requirements/ Features:

Some of the necessary items to make this work. I'm sure there is a lot of things that can be added to make this a more of an interesting and attractive game.

• It would be best if the game were held in a world other than zero, so players could communicate without interruption.
• The map blips and the name tags need to disappear.
• Random starting points, or home, in the building/area need to be set.
• If the location is set outside, boundaries need to be set.
• In order for a hidden person to be registered as found, “ray casting” will be needed.
• When the person is found, a "showmessage" could report it.
• A countdown timer will be needed; one that preferably displays in the Hide & Seek world only. Sixty seconds seemed to work well on most locations.

Locations:

There are many places that can be used, some of them having already been tested out, some not discovered yet. Some of the played places include:

• Madd Dogg’s Mansion,
• One of the cargo ships north of San Ferraro.
• Caligua’s Casino
• The loading depot located in the southeast corner of Los Santos.
• Area 69
• Also, artificial locations could be created using various objects.


This is just the basic idea to get this off the ground. Please feel free to add features and locations.

how would you do that? In MTA you can go crazy with IsElementOnScreen, processLineOfSight and IsLineOfSightClear, but sa-mp doesn't have this kind of functions. Maybe I completely misunderstood your point, but it will be really hard to script it in sa-mp.

'Ray casting' was suggested by one of our local developers, Jay.

Nope. I never suggested it. I don't know much about Ray casting, but I do know that it isn't possible in SA-MP so it probably would indeed have to wait for MTA.
