[C] IP for unban appeal - cake - 04-04-2013 Hi, I was wondering why someone needs to post his/her IP for an unban appeal. Quoting from the privacy policy: ![]() + Isn't someone's IP personal data and thus protected by dutch law? Wet persoonsgegevens Re: [C] IP for unban appeal - Kase - 04-05-2013 To keep track of account access and clones. It helps identifying evading cheaters and old accounts. Re: [C] IP for unban appeal - cake - 04-05-2013 Hey Kase ![]() Sorry, I meant to ask why someone has to post his/her IP in public for an unban appeal. I know IPs are logged, thats just routine. But I don't understand the need to post your own IP in public for an appeal. The image I posted in my first post states: the IP Address is Private. Yes, we agree that LVP collects our data, but where do you state the need to include an IP in a public appeal? How do you state the need to include an IP in a public appeal? Does a regular member needs to know my IP in order to get me unbanned? No. Would I like to reveal part of my personal identity to this regular member? No. This is what I am wondering about! Re: [C] IP for unban appeal - Richard - 04-05-2013 The reason that we ask for it, is that admins cannot see your IP on the forum. And even if they could, you could be posting it from your phone or anywhere else but where you got banned from. We could change it so you can PM your IP to the crew member replying to your appeal, but that severely slow down the process. Do you perhaps have any suggestions? Yes, PM'ing would severely slow down the process, but in the disadvantage of the banned person. I don't see any harm in that. Re: [C] IP for unban appeal - Richard - 04-06-2013 I think a combination could work indeed.
