DDoS attacks -_- - Agent - 08-08-2011 so a friend of mine got a few servers of TF2 , and someone is attacking the servers and crashing them once in a while . i think that we know who it is and maybe we got his ip address . i know LVP had a few DDoS attacks a while back ago - how can i contact the ISP of the attacker ? my friend don't got that knowledge so does he need to call and like as "hi someone attacks my servers can i give you an ip address you you can check ...blah blah" or does he need to get logs and stuff ? thx Re: DDoS attacks -_- - Blackbean - 08-08-2011 nudge unborn and get the fuker hacked himself. Re: DDoS attacks -_- - [SWK]Dacads - 08-08-2011 I'm no hacker my self (or am I) but u get those websites where u type in IP and it tells u the ISP and other details of IP address, but sometimes they can be inaccurate Re: DDoS attacks -_- - Daniel - 08-08-2011 Type the ip in maxmind.com it even tracks a code and if you put it in google maps u can find his house. In most cases you can't even get the correct city from an IP-address. 2. You can't find the house without finding the city/address. If you are lucky and the attacks come from a single IP-address you can simply track back their host/ISP/country with one of many IP tracking websites, for example this one (The best one I found). But in many cases the attacker has a bot-net, this means that there a lot of computers sending packets to the server, and every of this computers may have it's own IP-address, in that case it's very hard to find the real attacker, turning off the server for several days would help, as the attacker loses interests in that attack, if it's only aiming on your server. Probably the best (lol) solution would be contacting the steam support, as TF2 is an Orange Box game, I'm pretty sure they already have experienced that problem and would be able to help you, or your friend.
