ATI 5830 or AMD 6850 - xBlueXFoxx - 03-22-2011
I've already summed up the the 6850 is the better choice
Currently at this moment I'm using the HD 4890, but my power supply is a bit stressed on it. Tt's working fine at load but the obvious signs are obvious, my usb ports start to appear as if they're low on power while gaming, and knowing the HD 4890, it's stealin' all the juice.
So I want to know, which one would be best for me at this moment, I have a 650w "bluestar" power supply, 32A. I know both the 5830 and 6850 are going to be a great choice to solve this power issue, but which one sounds like the best deal at the moment?
I have my HD4890 up on ebay at this moment in time and pretty much have it sold for an offer of $115
Now the HD6850 costs $139, and the HD5830 costs 123$, which means I'll be low on cash and will most likely be getting a small loan from somebody for a bit, I know the performance is not dramatically different but by buying one of these cards I get the plus side of a small performance increase from my 4890, DirectX11, and less power stress meaning I can wait a bit to get a new power supply.
Finer details of the cards.
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5
HIS AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5830 1GB GDDR5
Which one do you think I should get, the HD5830 or the HD6850
(Also don't propose the Nvidia geforce GTX460, that's $150 for a 1GB model and I don't think I'll be able to pay that off any time soon, I'm already pushing it.)

Yeah that's what I'm really looking into, but yeah my budget is very harsh at the moment.
Time will really tell what I'll be buying, as I also have to ship out my card and receive the money still, I'm just looking for feedback and recommendations right now.

Go with the HD 6850.
Your current HD4890 has (under full load) a power consumption of ~190W
A 5830 has a power consumption of about 170W, while a HD 6850 only eats about 135W under full load.
So the 6850 is not only faster, but also needs significantly less juice, so i guess thats what you want to go with. Well worth the extra bucks, if you ask me.

I just got my card packaged ready to ship, right now I'm using the Radeon x1300 Pro 256mb pr 512mb DDR2, I used to think the x1300 was the shit years ago, todays games make it look sad.

DON'T BUY NVIDIA GTX 460-480.. You'll have trhe same isseus like me

What issues? I have GTX 460 and no problems so far.
