Fraps high ping issue: Windows 7(?) - Jakez - 01-06-2011
Ever since a few weeks after I bought my new PC with Windows 7 64bit, whenever I fraps my game in almost any game, I get perfect FPS although my ping spikes from around 50 (EU) to 200 after about 20 seconds of frapsing, which stops me from being able to aim or play without warping.
Could it be windows 7? Or do you guys have any solutions for it?
FYI i'm using the latest version of fraps, and I have tried recording in "Half size" aswell as WITHOUT sound, yet barely any difference.

Uhh I find it hard to believe that FRAPS would make your ping spike, as it is not network related in any way. But there is a few method I have discovered for FRAPS, for example: getting a second hard drive to record on, instead of using your primary hard drive to record on. Any flash drive will due, as long as it has enough space to hold what you will be recording. Link to the topic where I found this discovery: http://forum.sa-mp.nl/index.php?topic=26193.0
Of course, FRAPS will always require a bit of free processing and ram to work, because yeah, compressing a video while playing a game is not always the most lightweight thing for a computer to handle.

Had that too once, than i used "game booster" and search youtube for "regedit", little bits might help, gl

I have an i7 with plenty of RAM so this wouldn't be the case. I have 2 Harddrives and use my second for fraps and although I already use gamebooster for most games even though it's not nessecarily needed.
@Purple, I have not noticed it on every game, but a few, yeah. The ONLY thing that has slightly decreased abit of lag was removing Steam Overlay when playing.

Yeah have heard that for a while but I have never had a high ping other than with fraps

I have the same problem, not to mention that afterwards the sound in the video is usually fucked up. I have an i7 920 with Windows 7 64bit
