It all depends on how much RAM sockets you have. I have like about four RAM sockets, which means that I have 8GB of RAM, and I believe that I can add more to it.

If you are willing to buy a 4GB RAM stick, you would want to spend a lot of money to fill those RAM slots. Depends on your motherboard aswell, my old computer's mobo's ram limit was 2gigs, but on new comp it's 16 gigs.

what OS are you using anyways?
if its 32-bit your limit will be around 3-3.25GB, no matter what your mainboard supports
