Fucked Flash Drives - Rien - 10-15-2010
K, so I have a bunch of flash drives; a few 2GB ones, and an 8GB one, thing is, I can only store 1,3GB of stuff on them, I've tried formatting, but that doesn't seem to work. Even though 1,3GB will suffice, most of the time, it'd still be nice to be able to use my full 8GB's.
Anyone with any idea on howI can fix this?

Are you completely sure there are no hidden files or folders on it?
If you've tried formatting, I don't think there's much else you can do.

Make sure you format it in NTFS, not FAT32...that might solve the problem. (Even though FAT32 should support up to ~4GB).

Still 1,30GB.
In fact, even after formatting, I have 1,27GB left, out of 1,30GB

thats odd, my 2GB drives have 1.89GB of free space. I guess the company who made your's reserved alot for formatting?
Regardless you won't be able to have the full amount for each drive. They're like harddrives and have some space used for format type files or whatever the data is. For example my 500GB HDD only lets me use 465GB

Yeye, I'm aware that a 2GB drive doesn't actually have 2000000MB's of space, but 8GB doesn't just turn into 1,3GB

Well I'd say that 8GB drive is probably screwed up for good. Formatting is pretty much all you can do which obviously didn't help in your case

It's broken. We see it a lot. That only certain clusters are still visible and the rest is broken.
But the strang thing about your story it is with 2 flash drives...So maybe it's in the controllers of your motherboard.
