Buying a computer - Lithirm - 11-10-2009
Hey!
So I'm finally got enough money to get somewhat of a good computer, the thing is, I have no knowledge about what is a good gaming computer or not.
My current budget is about 730 euros.
I have no idea about brands, preferences (or what to say lol). So I was hoping for some help with getting some good hardware.
There's only one thing that I'm pretty sure about is that I want 3GB of RAM, also that there will be no need in getting an OS.
But please give me tips of specified hardware that you like, and would recommend. Or if someone can be arsed, please show an entire set for the budget (730 € ~).

thats without monitor, if u need it u can reduce some money by getting different ram but still same amount, different hdd, different case or w.e this pc would be good for gaming definetly a nice gaming rig. not high end but mid end.

Yeah i have the same question as lithirm, my computer is old already
but i want to know if i could get a good computer and gaming computer that support certain games, also if i could get it in a regular store.

Well Alienware would be your best bet for gaming computers but...unlikely you'll get that any time soon.
But what you don't wanna do is buy a whole computer, as they nearly always turn out rubbish...so building one from scratch is roughly same price, little more expensive / cheaper but much more effective.
When I built this PC (2 years ago now...about this month too) it costed me around £600 and 2 years on it's still in good condition and can run high demanding games like GTA:IV. But if I post my computer specs they'll be nothing compared to what you'll be getting.

You just contradicted yourself twice. You said to buy an Alienware then said to not buy a pre-built comp. Then you said in the same sentence that building a comp is cheaper and more expensive

I meant buying Alienware would be best, but because it'll be unlikely he'll be buying Alienware, he shouldn't buy a pre-built computer because they're usually crap. Although I dunno if building an Alienware system from scratch would be possible.
And in the cheaper & more expensive sentence, I meant it might cost a bit more or a bit less than a pre-built computer.

Strika why choose that mobo? NVIDIA mobo with SLI written all over it, will it support Crossfire if he wants to expand to 2xATI 4870?

If it costs more than a pre-built you're doing something really wrong.
