gtx 275 - gtaman3000 - 10-25-2009

Well I may want to get a GTX-275 soon.

I have enough mone for it, but my problem is one: My PSU.
Its only 650W. Its enough, but the nVidia needs 550W to run it. I got the pCI cables.

So 650w - 550w = 100w left for my CPU and my Ram, Mobo and HDD (is that how it works? )

my specs:

Manufacturer: Costum BuiltProcessor:
AMD Phenom Quad Core 9950 Black Edition 2.6Ghz OC'd to 3.0Ghz
Memory: Patriot Memory DDR2 840Mhz 4GB 4-4-4-12

Video Card: ATI RADEON HD4850 512MB 675/1040Mhz
Monitor: 19' Dell E770 Plug n' Play Monitor
Sound Card: 7.1 HD Realtek Audio
Speakers/Headphones: Logitech x140 Bass 2.1 Speakers
Keyboard: Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000
Mouse: Micosoft Wireless Invisible Laser Mouse 5000
Mouse Surface: Nothing xD
Operating System: Windows Vista HomePremiun 32Bit OEM Version [Built 6001]
Motherboard: MSI K9-A2 CF AM2+ 790X Chipset

Re: gtx 275 - Hitman - 10-25-2009

That information is not correct. (550W)

The GTX 275 consumes ~215W in the NVIDIA reference design - pre-overclocked versions might consume a bit more.

I've never heard of your PSU, so it prolly is a cheap one. Make sure the PSU has  atleast 2x 6pin slots.

PS: Why would you want to upgrade from the HD 4850 to the GTX 275 ? Trust me, the performance increase isnt that big as it would be worth to spend 180€ on it.

IF you want to upgrade your card, get an HD 5870 or wait another 4-6 weeks till NVIDIA launches their new  GT300 series.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gtx_275_us.html go on the specs. says 550w minimum

i need it becasue most of the games nowadays (nfs : shift, mrrors edge uses physX that only nvidia cards sopport..
i was just wondering if it would work. ill be buying it by next year or so..

ps. gtx 300ers would cost like as much as a gtx 295 O.o

Re: gtx 275 - Hitman - 10-25-2009

well, if you want to buy the card next year, i'd suggest you to create another new thread a week before you're going to buy the videocard. atm nobody can tell you which is the best choice in januaray or whenever you want to buy the card.

PS: Havent played SHIFT yet, but in mirrors edge, two worlds and unreal tournament 3 the physiX effects are well noticable, but not that great that it would be worth paying for it.

Re: gtx 275 - Maka - 10-25-2009

Dude.. I'm running 6GB Ram, an Intel Core i7 920 and a GTX275, and guess what? I also got 650W. And guess another what? My old PC had 375W PSU and somehow my new PC uses less Wattage than my previous. :P No lie, I checked it with my dad when taking the numbers.

Btw, what Hitman said is correct too. It's best to ask again in a few weeks if you're only planning on buying it next year.

That. (and I have an ATI card ;) )
