Yeahh they tried doing these things in England too, but only happened recently, anyone who went into year 7 (aged 11 before September, aged 12 afterwards) had to stay in school until they're 17, not 16. And they tried changing the holidays too.
Luckily I left months ago and am English, so none of that will bother me!

I think eliminating summer vacation would be a good idea. Students wouldn't forget information over the summer and it would emulate the job atmosphere better (no 3 month break in the middle of summer).

There's a limit to how much the school system should try to emulate the "adult world". Seriously, it's not that hard to adapt to reality after school; they're already doing okay. Removing summer holidays could be okay, but not without adding more holidays elsewhere (which is the current proposal IIRC).
