Mapping Team - Jay - 07-18-2009 Stunting is a really popular thing in SA:MP. There are tonnes of servers on the internet list that are full because they have the word "stunt" in the host name. The most popular offical server, Awesome Stuntages, always has at least 190 players in it. The idea I had when originally writing the object and Map zone handlers were to add lot's of stunt features to LVP. However, as some of you may have noticed not many people are aware of the the map zones and how to use them, so we need some ways of properly promoting it. I'm suggesting we start a new team of mappers. I'm aware of 3.0 development, however that could and will take a while, so therefore this should keep the players happy in the meantime. Some rules will offcourse have to be thought up and a proper plan. Probably a whole new forum rank and board will need setting up, along with an irc channel and a new category in the mantis. Since I doubt mappers will be aware of how to actually add maps into the source, we may just have to let them to the mapping part, and us do the scripting part. Obviously due to object limits (unless Peter finished his object streamer (which would also allow us to enable the haystack)) there will have to be certain rules. I was discussing this with Fireburn and I know he agrees with me, what do the rest of you think (particularly the management)? Re: Mapping Team - Richard - 07-19-2009 I like to see more maps as could be seen from my post in Darius' topic. I'm fine with all of the above.
Re: Mapping Team - Felle - 07-19-2009 So, are we going to recruite people from the community or do this ourselves? Sounds like a good idea, stunt servers are indeed (generally) quite popular. Re: Mapping Team - Matthias - 07-19-2009 Nice idea, I don't know if there are any mappers in the community though. I'm a bit worried about lag if we don't use a proper streamer too. Re: Mapping Team - Jay - 07-19-2009 Lol, using a streamer written in pawn would probably cause more lag. Re: Mapping Team - Chillosophy - 07-19-2009 I'd like to volunteer for this. I know I'm inactive, but I do have some experience mapping. Didn't s0mb0dy have a stuntserver too? He could probably make some nice maps. Re: Mapping Team - Matthias - 07-19-2009 (07-19-2009, 07:05 PM)Chillosophy link Wrote: I'd like to volunteer for this. Re: Mapping Team - Sander - 07-25-2009 Not to ruin anybodies fun or something, but isn't it better to get some pre-made stunt modes from the Scripting Showroom and use parts of it if their license allow us to do so. We can always add/modify them later. I'm not an experienced mapper, so I'm probably the slowest mapper, it takes forever to build 1 nice map, finding the correct objects, fitting them nice together and testing it over and over. I know we try to be unique, but on the other hand: Wasting time for something which has been done already is useless IMHO. Re: Mapping Team - Jay - 07-25-2009 Well the point of recruiting a team is so that it doesn't take up any development time. But I agree there are some nice maps we can use in the showroom. Re: Mapping Team - Jay - 07-26-2009 rcg - Basic tutorial Might interest Chillio. It's a plugin to MTAs new map editor, could whip up some really nice maps with that. |
