New Folder can't be named "con"? - Mystery_Maker - 02-20-2009 as i am working designs for the Codename Vuur Aplha so i made a new folder and tried to rename it to CON for just my own abbreviation but i found it can't be named like that .. weird. check this if you can? Re: New Folder can't be named "con"? - FarePak - 02-20-2009 "CON" is a reserved name that dates back to the days of MS-DOS and is short for "CONsole". The idea is that any program could write to the screen or read from the keyboard simply by opening and acting on a file by the name of CON. "Other possibly reserved filenames include things like COM1, COM2, and so on for your serial or modem ports, and LPT1, LPT2 and so on for printer ports." Pasted^ |
