Online Friends - g3344 - 01-10-2009 Hello all! When ever I login to LVP I always like to know which of my friends are currently online. Often finding if they are requires a good two minutes looking through everyone online. And when there is 150+ players on, it can be hard to see if they are. And asking in main-chat doesn't always work because they could be in a fight/mini-game or just not looking at main chat that often (and it does and a half fly by when theres alot of players on!). This got me thinking about a command like /friends that could tell you if any of your friends are online. To add a friend you could do /friend add <id/name>. To remove one /friend remove <id/name>. To stop people going crazy and adding 100s of friends maybe you could only have something like 10 friends. It might also be good for how many friends you have not to appear anywhere else, otherwise I can imagine some people looking at it as a stat and trying to add everyone to their friends list! It would make it alot easier when you just logged on. I'm not a developer and have no experience with programming so I don't know if any of this is even possible. Thank you for reading, -Jordi Re: Online Friends - Maka - 01-10-2009 Uhm.. Do you even know about "/getid <part of name>" ? It'd allow you to, as Jordi stated, check quickly which friends are online (and their IDs?). And Maka, I'm not intelligent so how would I remeber even 1 name? ![]() Re: Online Friends - EvilGate - 01-10-2009 Great idea, but if this ever will be realised, will this be for VIP's-only? Edit : Jordi, you don't even remember a part of your friends its name?
Re: Online Friends - tomozj - 01-10-2009 I think it would perhaps be unfair to make this feature VIP-only, however I see that this would take up more space in a database, and it would get outdated when people change their names etc. and thus would probably be better to just be used by active users, the VIPs. It doesn't give you an advantage over other in a gameplay sort of way, just would be convenient, just like the clock for regular users. Hey, perhaps not for VIPs but for regulars? I don't know.
Re: Online Friends - EvilGate - 01-10-2009 Yep, but when do you got classified as active? A minimum of hours per day, week? Re: Online Friends - tomozj - 01-10-2009 I'm not saying we need a classification of 'active' for this feature, just opening the feature up to those who are on LVP more than those who say log on once and never come back would be a better idea. |
