The Olympics- Official thread. - Jack_Frizzle - 08-18-2008 Here's where we discuss the olympics- your own country's performance, being impressed by races/performances, whatever. Here's the site I use to check the medal tally: http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/INF/GL/95A/GL0000000.shtml I'm glad my country's in the top 3- so what are your thoughts on the olympics so far? Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - Mike - 08-18-2008 Strangly enough, I haven't watched any Olympic Events. At all. Period. I'm not sure why. Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - Nudie - 08-18-2008 Same as Mike here. Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - Jack_Frizzle - 08-18-2008 Wow this thread is about as interesting as watching grass grow. Cmon, I'm sure some people have been as interested in the olympics as I am- heck, I'm watching them right now! Lets get this ball rolling, and talk about one or more of the following: a) Michael Phelps' new record of 8 olympic gold medals in the one olympics. b) Usain Bolt destroying the 100m mens sprint world record without taking the last 20 metres seriously c) Anything thats interested/shocked you? Favourite events? Jesus, a topic like this should attract plenty of interesting conversation, and not need someone to try and push it somewhere. Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - Ben - 08-18-2008 Someone from Britain was the first to get three gold medals or something, that's all i've heard. And that was because I read the paper this lunch time. Sorry mate, if you want to find people interested about this stuff, here really isn't the place. Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - [UvH]Hitman - 08-18-2008 I used to watch the olympic games 24/7, but this time, somehow, i didnt watch it at least one second. In my opinion it was an epic fail to have Olympia in China. I'd rather have it in south-korea or japan. When i have a look at the medal standings, immediately the sentenceĀ CHINA CHEATSĀ comes in my mind. I bet they are doped and so on, i think you know the story about the dopings. That doesnt mean that other countries doesnt dope, but i think its clear that this big medal-advantage from china was no result of talent heheh Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - Felle - 08-18-2008 Same as the others, I haven't been bothered to watch merely anything of it. Could be because most things are in the middle of the night, time differences make me tired. I would probably have watched more of it if it were in any european timezone... All I know is the results which I read in newspapers or whatever... and those results kind of prove it ain't worth watching..
Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - Jack_Frizzle - 08-18-2008 Not that I'm a China fan- but China have finished in the top 3 in at least the last 5 olympics. I do find them winning gold in weight-lifting to be strange, but the home-side always has an advantage, and perhaps they've been training their olympic team for the last few years exclusively for this purpose. Re: The Olympics- Official thread. - Mike - 08-19-2008 I think the reason why I haven't been watching it so much is because of how politically charged it is this year. It's unfortunate, but there are world leaders that refuse to attend the Olympics because of what China's government has been doing.
