[Feature]Taxi Missions - Jay - 08-07-2008

With the recent addition to taxis to the new 2.90 vehicle layout, perhaps something that has always been suggested for LVP, is taxi missions. A player enters a taxi, presses there submission key, and then becomes a taxi driver, with the option for players to call it to there location. Imo though, when a taxi driver is online (discluding admins) the /taxi system should be disabled.

Not so sure I like the last part about /taxi being disabled. People will moan for the taxi driver to log off because they can't be arsed waiting.

I indeed think a lot of people will cry about it, the driver

a) Should have a taxi(how many are there now with the new layout?)
b) Will have a lot of costumers(people will have to wait a long long time, driving to the requested place yourself is faster..)
c) Will be shot
d) Will most likely get only RP'ers because the DM'ers 'play fast' so they cba to wait for it

I agree with Estroe. I think it's best that the transportation commands be left. Maybe changing around the prices is ok, but other than that, it will cause a huge panic. If this was an entirely RP server, I'd say go for it.

Theres about 12 taxi loaded ingame I think, if not more. Anyway yea I guess your right, if the current taxi system was disabled whilst taxi drivers are connected I guess a lot of dm'ers (including me) will cry  :'(

Well, I still like it though, It's just another optional thing to do in LVP.

that could be abused I think. Someone enters a cab, starts the misson and just drives around in the middle of nowhere so people can't taxi.

I've seen people offer taxi services in the mainchat before -- this doesn't have to be scripted in. A system where you have to wait for a cab to turn up would be better. You call, and a few seconds later it could come via an object moving, pull up next to you, you get in and then it would simply teleport you to your destination?

Good for RPers, and DMers don't have to wait too long at all.

But what object have you seen representing a taxi? And SetVehiclePos doesn't work when the vehicle isn't in use.

But it doesn't have to be in use.. they simply get in and you never see the taxi again.. However if they enter as the driver they get a wanted star and are not transported to their destination?

It'd be like on VC & SA, where you get that cab after failing a mission..

I apologize, I meant it doesn't work if it is not in use.

I guess we could just Create it close to them. However the only problem is, finding the closest road. What if they are in an eclosed area where a taxi won't fit?
