Re: Our Universe - Peru - 09-11-2009 I was watching TV this morning, before leaving for school. And they were talking about a planet that they had found a year or so ago, resembling Earth in appearance. The planet is 5x more massive than Earth; meaning gravity will be twice as strong. It does not rotate; meaning for one-half of the planet, it will always be daytime, and for the other half, it will always be nighttime. It is close to a red super-giant star; meaning the weather will be hot as hell, but bearable. They have conducted deeper analysis, and concluded that this one is the closest one to resemble Earth. It's so extreme, even Terror and Zezima would cry for mercy. Re: Our Universe - Maddolis - 09-11-2009 Oh you don't know how extreme they can get ![]() You don't happen to know the name of this planet do you? Re: Our Universe - Jeffry™ - 09-11-2009 Lol, the sun got owned by all of them. ![]() Amazing the Unuverse.
Re: Our Universe - Rien - 09-11-2009 Actually... If those stars are so much bigger than the sun, and they're in our galaxy as well, how come we can't ever see them? Re: Our Universe - Maddolis - 09-11-2009 We can see a number of them. Re: Our Universe - Peru - 09-12-2009 (09-11-2009, 03:01 PM)Twilight link Wrote: Actually... The closest star to Earth apart from the sun is Alpha Centauri, which is located 4.37 light years away from us. It is a bit larger than our Sun. Alpha Centauri is in fact visible on a night sky as a dot. The hyper-giants that you see in the video are also visible on a night sky as a dot that is the same size as Alpha Centauri's. However, many of those hyper-giants are as far as 3000 light years away from us. So think about that... we are so fay away from these monster, that they still look like dots in our night sky regardless of their size. Re: Our Universe - Strika - 09-14-2009 this subject is very interesting and brings up so many questions that cant be answered, and you cant image it in your head
