Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - Munch - 05-19-2011 (05-19-2011, 06:31 AM)0Target0 link Wrote: So if there is life on other planets, why isn't it mentioned widely in the so called book of god? Like it's been said, you don't have to believe in books to believe in God. You can believe in a God but not any books about God. You can believe in a God without following a religion. You believe what you want through your own reasoning, not because of a book, although that may help in some cases. Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - 0Target0 - 05-19-2011 is God more like an experience? Not literally a thing that created us? Do you think god looks like us? Is portraying god as a human just an example of human egocentrism? If god has chosen to create only the earth and his word is written down by a man, the perception of a god is only there for humans, how are you sure that the God idea is not inherent to human fantasy? egocentrism of mankind. Every single thought that gets into your head picturing how does God look like is incorrect... always incorrect, same goes with heaven and hell. the existence of aliens won't prove Islam being wrong, even if they have no prophets, no religions, no holy books, the only thing that would mean is (if they have the same level of intelligence as humans) that God is not testing them like he is testing us. "how are you sure that God idea is not inherent to human fantasy?" read about Quranic miracles... educate your self a bit about Islam. Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - 0Target0 - 05-19-2011 Oh yes miracles, you didn't see them yourself, they are in a book...written by a man, you believe those stories. Man written miracles. I can write about miracles too you know. Only today people are more critical about the news, if they don't see it themselves they don't believe it. Too bad TV didn't exist 2000 years ago. Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - Munch - 05-19-2011 (05-19-2011, 11:39 AM)0Target0 link Wrote: If god has chosen to create only the earth and his word is written down by a man, the perception of a god is only there for humans, how are you sure that the God idea is not inherent to human fantasy? Nobody knows, not even you. As I have said plenty of times already, people who believe in God don't always believe in him because of what is written in a book. They don't have to believe in the book, or at least all of the book. A holy book is meant to be the word of God written by humans. Nobody knows if God is just a human thing. Beings on other planets could have Gods, or their versions of a God and have their own Bibles. Where does it say God only created the Earth? The Bible is written by humans, which is meant to be the word of God. It's like a biography, not written by the being in question but by someone else. Maybe God just didn't tell them that he has other projects? Maybe he didn't tell them that there are planets that has life on them. And as already said, even if it has somewhere that God only created the Earth, that does not mean everyone who believes in God believes he only created theĀ Earth. Not all believers of God believe in the Bible, or any religious books for that matter. Many of them just believe in the mere existence of God and have their own reasons. Quote:is God more like an experience? People have their own reasons to believe in God, they have their own beliefs in God, or Gods. Some believe in a God due to some experience, maybe they survived cancer and believed God was looking over them. There's nothing wrong or stupid in believing that. You may then ask why God let them have cancer in the first place, which is something even religious people can't answer. For those who believe everything happens for a reason they just say it could be a reason that we cannot understand, and tell you not every reason has to be beneficial. Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - 0Target0 - 05-19-2011 If he has other projects, then why on earth would he look human or even behave human? ![]() It's cause the fantasy of mankind says so. Egocentrism. Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - durrrrr - 05-19-2011 Why people tend to personalize God? Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - STyL4 - 05-19-2011 art is different than Religion and if u know anything about philosophy there are people who claims God is like a human(nature) or the one that claims that God doesnt look like a human, is Omniscent. second one in Christianity is correct Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - Munch - 05-19-2011 ...no one says he looks like humans, it's just how people look at him. No one says God even has a gender, even though we refer to God as him. And how many times must I say this? You're talking about what Christians may believe, or what religious books say. You are not speaking for all people who believe in God, or Gods. Perhaps religions like to think we are his number one priority, or his only children, or that he looks and acts like us, but most people who just believe in God and not the books won't believe that. It's like when you see a name of someone on a forum, a new member. You automatically refer to that member as a he, even though you don't know that member is a male. Re: [Serious Discussion] Religion - STyL4 - 05-19-2011 if u would know everything about God then he isn't God because u are not God but a human, period. therefore in Christianity he is not mentioned as a creature with human abilities or whatsoever and is mentioned as all knowing and omniscent, u cant wrap your minds around him as ure not God. |
