Well, i still see Microsoft having lots of content on XBL + making tons of money off of the $50 12 month subscription.
Oh, and you dont need to get XBL gold to download all the demos.

Absolutely true. All companies only think "make money, make money, MAKE MONEY". So they both have reasons behind what they do.
I bet Microsoft makes makes atleast $50,000,000 a month off Halo players alone. You figure 1,000,000 Halo players (and thats a low number considering Halo's popularity) paying $50 a month. $50,000,000.

50/13 = $3.85 a month
For me, i find that the $50 is completely worth it. Games are $50 each, the amount of fun you have from playing on XBL = the fun you have from buying another game. Also, $3.85 a month is nothing compared to other things you spend your money on.
