On MTA when you shoot someone and you see the blood come out that means you've decreased thier health; on SA:MP that's not the case!
MTA's only better because they spent 3 whole years on pretty much making the sync better than SA-MP. MTA was before SA-MP, but once they released Race, SA-MP started and within a couple weeks it came out, incredibly bugged. But MTA stayed in developement stage until they were sure it was great. Which it was, except for the fact that it sometimes crashed when loading a gamemode when joining a server.
The gamemodes themselves were fun, particulary Fallout and that Interstate one (the Vigilante 8 rip-off) and who could forget Hay! And the headshots were fun too, I kept getting called cheater, even in the closed betas!
But they ruined it by not giving the people most of what they promised, they changed the Remote Admin which made my server's main Admin mad because he couldn't make his C++ Adminbot on DM like he did on Race (don't ask why, I'm no programmer...think it's because the new Remote Admin ran on PHP or something), and they at first (and for the first few releases) never gave us a map editor. And also, the interiors never worked! Not even the transfenders. I don't know about now though, not been on DM for a while, since DM 0.2
It also lacks the players to make the gamemodes fun, because they took so long people lost interest and stayed with SA-MP. If you're used to shooting a mile infront of people, MTA would get pretty annoying.

It was started by a guy named Pixel...or Pixels, don't know how his name went or the right caps usage. DCreations knows more about PAR than me. The day I made this poll was about the time PAR was born.
