What are you using it for? If it's just HD editing, 12GB is a little much. I can assure you I am not a "0815 ZOMGZOMG HEADSHOT!!!111 gamer kiddy".

Well its 3x 4GB sticks for triple channel. And ive heard of people maxing out 8GB of RAM while video editing.

My 8GB ram are maxed out after about 3 minutes while compressing big files with 7zip.  (ok, that might not be an event that happens all day to me, but still i use it often).

imo its good to have 8gb, i usually only need ~5GB of it tho.  But editing HD stuff eats more ram then you can imagine.  Especially when you're using the 64bit version of Photoshop :+

Re: Post your PC specs here! - Cave - 11-04-2009

I use 64bit Photoshop CS4/Sony Vegas 9 and 6GB is more, much more, than enough for me.

You're not using it for "real" stuff then... ofcourse its overkill for just a few 600x200 signatures... but once you gotta edit a  4,3GB .tiff  movie poster for a company, you're lucky that the entire pic fits into your ram and doesnt need to get loaded slowly from your hdd :)

PS: even I am lucky that i have 8GB, altho i only need all of it like once or twice per month - people that do that shizzle like every day  need every single MB of ram and every single MHz of cpu power that they can get.

Thank you Hitman, it's nice you can explain it to people!  :D

And even when I render, it still uses 100% of my system. on Task Manager it shows as all 8 cores at max, same with RAM.
