Re: Our Universe - Peru - 09-07-2009

The theory is supposedly simple: Where there's water, there's life.
I'd say it's hard to determine that there's life elsewhere because we are unable to reach other planets and just rely on robots to do the research for us. If humans were capable of landing on other planets and explore it in much more depth, I'm sure we would have found life already. However, with our current technology, that seems far from reach.

Indeed, fuckin gravity! :P

Thats my opinion it could be valuable to some of you or mere crap, you decide.

Yes, that "plan" seems futile at this point. But it could be the initiation process for scientists of the future. Because if evolution is correct, the human race should only be getting smarter every century.

Yeah, but in all honesty if we keep going the way we are we wont last another century D:

Another good point. And if for some miracle the Earth does live up until the day the Sun begins to die, then humans and the Earth will just die in an inferno.

Another interesting image.
What if VV Cephei was replaced with our Sun?

It would be big enough to almost reach Jupiter.

I dont agree with someone saying that if theres water theres life. But thats just my opinion. And to back it up, believe it or not, in Earth, only 1 percent of water is drinkable. So imagine how much water we wasting. But since u saying if theres water theres life, there could be many negative things about the water on other planets. Whether its salty, dirty, etc etc. Yeah scientist try to find life in other planets, but what about the storms they find? What about the temp of that planet? Etc etc. Theres so much to learn about Earth that we havent uncovered and they spend time trying to find life on other planets. How would they solve problems in other planets if they havent solved the problems in Earth yet??

You do have a point. Hence why it is just a theory, nothing more. And I think that the reason why Astronomers try to learn new things about our universe, is to help them understand unknown things about Earth.
