yeah and if you want to save money then go with an amd quad core and you could use that money to buy an even higher quality graphics card
But I guess like someone else mentioned Intel is more expensive because they more better and after all that radeon 4870 is a high end card and should run any game but it's up to you.

I would go with this build, but with a few changes:
Swap the Hitachi drive with this WD one: Western digital WD1001FALS
If your willing to spend an extra 40 euro, you can get the Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe
Or
Spend the extra 40 euro to get an HD 4890: XFX HD4890 XXX
A good less expensive case would be the Cooler Master CM 690: Cooler Master CM 690
These would bring the grand total to around 940 euro after tax. I have no idea what the shipping price is, so im guessing after everything, it'll be almost 1000 euro.

If he wants to stay in budget I would just keep it the same as that tbh, well except for the hard drive, I just picked that one in random seeing as I couldn't navigate the site properly.
Although yeah I would go with a HD 4890 and the P6T Deluxe if he has the extra money.

Hai, been a while, but I have my new computer:
Case: HKC 7025D Computercase black
Motherboard: Asus P6T-SE Motherboard (7.1 audio, 2x FireWire, 12x USB, 1 Gbps network)
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 (2.667 Ghz QuadCore, 1+8 MB Cache)
RAM: 6 GB PC3-12800 memory (1600 Mhz)
Graphics card: nVidia 285 GTX, 1GB
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F1 harddisk (970 gigabyte)
DVD: Sony NEC DVD Burner (DVD 20x, CD 48x)
Only downside was that the PSU wasn't strong enough(was in the case) to run the system. So I had to buy a new one for ~€90.
