Answering the first question: no.
Answering the second question: I can't tell exactly what that is, since I haven't been there, but I can make assumptions. It's most likely just an optical illusion.
Might be a mirage in some sense (notice that it moves with the Sun so that definitely isn't some kind of a separate object).
