As much as I want all that things to be real, I guess they're not.
And yeah, even if it is someone's dream...if they create a good story around it, I won't really mind.
They won't explain all this scientifically anyway, which I feel bad for. Til the end of season 3 I had high hopes that everything will be explained scientifically, even if it's lightly pseudo-science, but after that it came pretty obvious that they won't. Now in season 6 (which is the worst season so far) they have gone down the road that anything can happen which kinda blows imo. That thrill which kept you on the edge of your seat has disappeared. Not to mention the acting in the last season..."I need to find my husband, Jiiiin!!", "Huh, Jacob told me, i'll do whatever he says" etc. Before all the characters used to have their goals, now they have just introduced a bunch of totally unnecessary characters (Ilana and her crew, Zoe, the temple folks etc.).
Sad that they have turned a great show with a lot of potential into a complete cheesefest.

It being a gateway to hell is fact.. not only hell but the afterlife (and note i don't believe in religion so I use the term afterlift in a broad, yet narrow sence) as it since it was said a few epsiodes ago... so that much is clear... the question is how and why.
Any old school anime fan who watched Neon Genesis Evangelion would know the fininsed plot already methinks, along with historians who know ancient greek culture/legend/scripture.
I was hoping for more indept yet summerised theorys... yet people think to seem its a dream. Lost is an amazing series as its as deep as you want it to be, based on intelligence and interest.. and its clear theres no interest here, and the limitited amount has come to the most basic conclusion which is the same as sheep wanting to eat grass.
Lesson learnt, I'll keep the indept and logical questions and threads to places where a) people have an interest and b) those who have an interest have an IQ higher than a crippled hamster who's stuck in a running wheel with a match thats lit stuck up its ass.
My fault for expecting too much... let that be a lesson to you all.. hope in the modern world is as valid as religion.

I don't really think it's a dream. But yeah, to speculate about the ending/the meaning of the Island is a waste of time, since you're almost always wrong
I could think of a million different scenario's. But most of 'em are too "science fiction" for my taste (all stuff concerning hell/heaven would be lame). First of all because I don't believe in stuff like that and second because I don't think that, even if it did exists, people could visit "it" using a submarine (aka Charles Widmore and his crew). Unless there's a "mysterious portal" ofcourse...
Anyhow, let's just hope the ending isn't too science fiction-ish.
