That aint true. I got a ati card and i got absolutly no problem with gta4 im playing on very high without problem with a hd4870.  I got some friends with Ati 4870x2 and crossfire works very well in gta 4 tho.

But it cost to much to be pricy. you can get a hd4870x2 for 350 euro.

Havok is open for everyone, not a ATI thing. And it wont be implemented in GPUs, its a CPU only thing. There are loads of games that use Havok.

To the GPU thing, trust me if you compare a GPUs render power to a good CPU ones, the CPU gets sooo badly outperformed.

I have a Q9550 at 4x 3.6GHz stable running, still rendering a movie needs about 2-3 hours longer than using my GTX 260.

To the power consumption your right. Both, HD 48xx series and nvidias G92 chips are real power killers. I mixed it up with the new GTX 200 series, which barely uses 20-25W in idle.

To the Linux drivers, no idea, thats what the situation was a year or two ago.

I know alot of people who bought a secound nvidia card just to use as physX card.. And they say, no fucking diffrent :P and after that sold the cards.

A gpu is better on many things.. But right now, physX it aint helping cpu that much in games.


Amd and intel are working hard with havok...  Me and many belive that havok is the future,  and physX will die.

well, buying an extra card for physx is just useless, since every card with the power of an 8800GT or higher has enough power to do both, game and physx at the same time.

and no difference? thats because much games aint supported yet, before i would buy an extra physx card id check the list if my favorite games are in there lol
