That aint true. I got a ati card and i got absolutly no problem with gta4 im playing on very high without problem with a hd4870. I got some friends with Ati 4870x2 and crossfire works very well in gta 4 tho. Re: What Graphics Card - cloakster - 02-26-2009 lol, what did i say about useless posts in my previous post You guys have not even heard about his specs and you are already discussing the very high end cards.

That isn't true, I got almost no problems with crashes.. Re: What Graphics Card - Hitman - 02-26-2009 @mjaa Havok is open for everyone, not a ATI thing. And it wont be implemented in GPUs, its a CPU only thing. There are loads of games that use Havok. To the GPU thing, trust me if you compare a GPUs render power to a good CPU ones, the CPU gets sooo badly outperformed. I have a Q9550 at 4x 3.6GHz stable running, still rendering a movie needs about 2-3 hours longer than using my GTX 260. To the power consumption your right. Both, HD 48xx series and nvidias G92 chips are real power killers. I mixed it up with the new GTX 200 series, which barely uses 20-25W in idle. To the Linux drivers, no idea, thats what the situation was a year or two ago. And they say, no fucking diffrent and after that sold the cards.A gpu is better on many things.. But right now, physX it aint helping cpu that much in games. Amd and intel are working hard with havok... Me and many belive that havok is the future, and physX will die. http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20080616011841_AMD_and_Intel_Collaborate_on_Further_Development_of_Havok_Physics_Technology.html http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2008/12/11/amd-exec-says-physx-will-die/1 Re: What Graphics Card - Hitman - 02-26-2009 well, buying an extra card for physx is just useless, since every card with the power of an 8800GT or higher has enough power to do both, game and physx at the same time. and no difference? thats because much games aint supported yet, before i would buy an extra physx card id check the list if my favorite games are in there lol http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_physxgames_home.html Re: What Graphics Card - cloakster - 02-26-2009 @mjaa, obviously there's not going to be a performance difference if no games support Physx Re: What Graphics Card - cloakster - 02-28-2009 lol, every time someone on these forums asks for computer advice, we give them advice and then they never post a reply. Re: What Graphics Card - Hitman - 02-28-2009 Well cloakster, thats because we seem to nerdy for them, they better trust the 16-year-old unmotivated bestbuy trainee |
