Re: UK going wild .. - tomozj - 01-08-2009 I agree that this step is a little extreme to combat piracy, and when I first read an online article on this I didn't think it was as serious as is made out in this topic, and it isn't. I doubt they would even bother hacking into a computer just to catch another filesharer, but instead they would use it to check on terror suspects and larger scale criminals. This is also backed up by: (01-07-2009, 09:45 PM)EvilGate link Wrote: A remote search can be granted if a senior officer says he "believes" that it is "proportionate" and necessary to prevent or detect serious crime — defined as any offence attracting a jail sentence of more than three years. It would be extremely costly and time consuming to hack into millions of computers just to track those who download a few MP3s. Re: UK going wild .. - HoogerBooger - 01-08-2009 Exactly, there's way too much bureaucracy involved to get this project running. Worst case scenario they will a martyr out of some random kid having 100 gigs of pirated media on his HDD and spread it all over the media to deliver a message, but unfortunately a week later no-one remembers that headline anymore. Re: UK going wild .. - Danny - 03-29-2009 These poor companies. You should feel sorry for them: how are they going to afford that 4th holiday this month if people keep downloading?

Re: UK going wild .. - FarePak - 03-29-2009 Apparently 80-90% of the people who download in Sweden, why not just put whole of Sweden behind bars? Yeah, I know, and that's the sad part, small kids, like 6-8 years old will be the first victims, and their families have to pay 50,000 SEK - 300,000 SEK just for the court costs, then the companies will sue them, and yeah.. you get the picture.. 1$ ~ 6-9SEK 1£ ~ 9-13 SEK 1€ ~ 10-11 SEK |
