To avoid this situation and judging winners by such means, how about having separate tournaments for WW and RW?
There can be 2 ways to do this:
1) Make it compulsory for all 8 pairs to fight in both the divisions. The winners progress, the losers get disqualified. This way, someone who loses in the RW division may still have a chance in the WW division and vice versa.
2) Ask all 16 participants to choose which division they would like to fight in, while signing up, on first come first serve basis. The ones who specify their desired division after the spots in that particular one get full, will be forced into the division that has an open spot. This way there can be 8 RW players and 8 WW players, which means that there will be a total of 4 matches per division whose list will be fixed by random.org and the rest of the things will take place normally.
This way we can have 2 winners instead of 1 and the players will be responsible for their position in the tournament. The referee would simply make sure that everything goes well.

I've no time to sign in / be a referee, but perhaps it would be cool if every referee could record the fights and upload 'em on youtube or something.

LISTEN But... make it a specialised tournament.. RW or WW.. Shadow is hosting a WW tournament soon already.. rather just let this be RW.. it will be better.. and keeping it both will just mess things up.. rest is ur wish
