Re: New gaming rig - Sean3 - 02-06-2010 One suggestion, never go cheap with a power supply, i bought one and it fucked up after 1 month, and ontop of that, the PSU was so crappy that it wouldnt give the video card enough power, so my pc would just turn off by itself. I heard Thermaltake PSU were very good, heres one for 100USD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153108&cm_re=thermaltake-_-17-153-108-_-Product Re: New gaming rig - Philip - 02-06-2010 Well I need to cut back on some other things then... any suggestions? Re: New gaming rig - Thug - 02-06-2010 I always had and will have Radeon cards, I never had any problems with it and as far as I know Radeon cards perform better, the only good GeForce card I know is the GTX295. I used to have the GTX280 but It doesn't come close to my HD4870 X2... Re: New gaming rig - cloakster - 02-06-2010 Why does everyone keep suggesting the HD 5770? Does he really need DX 11? The HD 4870 beats it in every benchmark and costs the same. I would go for that instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102849 btw, can't you just use the optical drive from your current comp? Re: New gaming rig - Philip - 02-06-2010 Good idea Cloak, I think I'll do that, will cut about £20 off the price tag. And the graphics card doesn't look too bad, what do you think about the one I picked? Most of the reviews is also from the release of 5770, the drivers have been improved sinse that, and will be even more. Dx11 is 5770is biggest argue, it may not me nessesary with dx11 atm. Those few games who got it now has just a few details in DX11. But more and more games will support DX11. With more and more details, and don't forgot tesslation. A year from now, when many games support DX11. To think back of the choice you did today, to skip dx11 due the gain of 5 fps witch is loost anyway because of improved drivers in the 5770 would just be silly. Also the 5770 is alot more power efficiency. so whats this problem? - KingJd - 02-07-2010 GTA-IV stutter/frame skips on ATI 4870x2 |
